On Wednesday 29th June, the Refugee Employment Network supported a drop-in event for Ukrainian refugees in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. The event was free to attend and ran in collaboration with Bim Afolami, MP for Hitchin & Harpenden. Over 300 people attended the event, amongst which were organisations such as the Department of Work and Pensions, EY, NHS, Lidl and the Job Centre.
The event gave the attendees an opportunity to meet various local employers and speak to employment advisers. Refugees and their hosts also had the chance to learn about education courses, understand how to register professional qualifications in the UK, and learn more about local support services available.
REN would like to thank all the organisations that were involved and would encourage any attendees seeking further advice to contact our network coordinator Ben (ben@refugeeemploymentnetwork.co.uk) for more detail and with any relevant questions.
